Adding colour to silver art clay

For some time now, I've wanted to try adding colour to pieces but wasn't sure where to start.  There are so many options but for some reason I kept hesitating - overthinking it all!

Anyway, today I took the bull by the horns and made a piece specifically for adding colour.  As usual, when it came out of the kiln, I had a wobble "should I colour / shouldn't I colour" until I drove myself mad.  So I just went for it!

For this one I've used Pebeo paints (suitable for glass, metal etc) and then put a UV resin over the top.  I do like these paints and the big advantage is that until they're cured, you can wipe them off with water or a baby wipe.  I found that you can achieve depth by adding more layers or, if you want a really light covering then applying with a small fine paintbrush can give you that.  For this one, I wanted a medium coverage but with lighter and darker shades so I literally just built up the bits I wanted to be darker.

I've enjoyed this - not sure I'd add colour to all my pieces but it's certainly an option for me now.  I'm going to try adding polymer clay to my next pendant and see how that compares!
